Chromecast not detected on device ?

Chromecast works mainly with a 2.4Ghz connection on a b/g/n network. If you are using a 5Ghz network or a 802.11AC connection, there will be possible issues with your device detecting your Chromecast.

  • Try using another device, such as a cell phone, tablet, or another computer
  • Disable the 5Ghz and wireless N capabilities on your router
  • Reset your Chromecast
Hold down the button (next to the micro USB port) on your Chromecast for at least 25 seconds or until the solid light begins flashing.
    Disconnect the USB power cable.
Wait a few seconds and connect the USB cable again.

How to Stream Media from Plex on PC to Chromecast Using iOS or Android ?

Setup Plex Media Center for Playback via iOS or Android

Make one folder called Movies and in there different sub-folders containing the movie files. The same goes for TV Shows. One folder for a TV show, each containing different sub-folders for different seasons. This will make scanning by Plex really easy.
Now download and install Plex Media Server and open it. It will open in your default browser as a web view. In the example below we are adding music, but the process for movies and TV shows is the same.
Step 1: Give your PC a recognizable name.
Step 2: Click the Add Library button and select the media type you want to import (Movies, TV Shows, Music).
Plex Media Server
Step 3: Click the Add Folder button and browse through the root folder for all the media you want to add. Select the Movies or TV Shows folder.
Plex Media Server
Step 4: Click Add, then Next and you’re done.
Give Plex a couple of minutes to scan all the media.

The Hard Part Is Over

Setting up Plex was the hard part of the process. Plex Media Server runs on UPnP protocol (which stands for Universal Plug and Play). This means that any iOS or Android app that supports UPnP can access your Plex library when it’s on the same Wi-Fi network. And there are dozens of such apps.
Now all you need to do is open one such app, select the media you want to play and tap that Cast button you’re all too familiar with. Within seconds, the media will start playing on the Chromecast and your device will become the remote.
Plex Media Server
All the different apps have different UIs and features but this interaction doesn’t change.

Easy steps to change Chromecast wifi network.

If you have two WiFi networks at home for different purposes, for example, one for normal usage, and the other connecting to a VPN server, you may sometimes want to switch  Chromecast WiFi network.

This steps will show you how to change  Chromecast WiFi network  if you have more than one WiFi network at home.

 Power on Chromecast

To change Chromecast WiFi network, Chromecast must be on and connected to a WiFi network.
If you do not want to watch the changes on TV (you can always see it on your mobile devices), you do NOT need to power on the TV.

Step 1: Start Chromecast App on mobile device

To manage the WiFi network for Chromecast devices from a mobile device, you have to start Chromecast App in your mobile device.
Once the  Chromecast App is started, your mobile device will search for any Chromecast devices in the same network in range.
The discovered Chromecast devices will be listed once the search is over as shown below.

Step 2: Connect mobile device to Chromecast

In the devices page,  tap the Chromecast device  to connect the mobile device to this Chromecast device.

When your mobile device is connected to (paired with)  the Chromecast device, the detailed information of this Chromecast setup will be shown as below:

Now, the device is connected to dlink24G.

Step 3:  Change Chromecast WiFi network

To change Chromecast WiFi network, simply tap the network entry as shown above. This will brings a popup window showing current network info.

Tap the current WiFi network info as shown above, you will get the list of WiFi networks in range (discovered by your Chromecast device).

Tap on the new  WiFi network you want to use.
Provide the password for that WiFi network.

Tap OK to change Chromecast WiFi network.
Now you will get a warning message. It tells you that if you tap OK, your Chormecast device and your mobile device will be not in the same network. The Chromecast App on your mobile device will automatically switch your mobile device’s WiFi network to the same network as Chromecast. In other words, your mobile device will change WiFi network automatically after you change Chromecast WiFi network.
Of course, if the password of the new network is not saved in your mobile devices, the connection will fail.
You can also manually change the WiFi network in your mobile device. Please check the user manual of your device.

After tapping OK, the Chromecast device will try to connect to the new WiFi network. Now you finish to change the Chromecast WiFi network.

Step 4: Connect your Mobile device to the network

If both of your mobile device and Chromecast connect to the new network successfully, you will be able to find in the devices page as shown below.

This means you successfully changed Chromecast WiFi network. You can now stream contents to your TV from this new network.

HOW APP CASTING WORKS IN GOOGLE CHROME CAST?

App casting
(or “Google Cast Ready”) works when you’re simply using your laptop, tablet or phone as a type of remote control for the Chromecast.

In this case, the app (or website) you want to stream content from must have Chromecast support built-in to it. This will appear as the cast button cast-icon within the app (or website) itself.
Once you start casting, your device will hand off responsibility for the stream to the Chromecast, so it takes over all of the downloading and decoding of the video.

By using this technique, only a single WiFi connection is needed to stream, and you’re free to do something else on your device or laptop while the Chromecast works in the background.

Note that if you’re on a laptop and trying to cast from a supported website (e.g. Netflix), pressing the tab casting button in the top-right of the browser might work, but this can be misleading – you will see it being streamed (tab casted), but the quality will most likely be lower than it should be.

Sometimes these sites will attempt to switch you over to the higher quality app casting mode, but this doesn’t always work correctly.
  • It’s better to press the cast button within the app or website itself. This is usually located along with the other video controls such as screen size and quality setting. If the button isn’t available, it could mean that the app isn’t aware of any nearby Chromecasts to connect to.
here we check out wifi connection rate chat that might help you .

Tricks & tips to get best of google Chromecast

Google’s Chromecast as it turns out, this little TV dongle can do a whole lot more than just stream video from Netflix and YouTube, or view browser tabs on the big screen.
With these hints, tips, and secrets for Chromecast, you’ll be able to improve streaming video performance, mirror your entire PC screen, display locally stored files, and more.

1. Reduce streaming quality to improve video casting

That's the one you want. (Click to enlarge.)

Chromecast works best when it’s streaming Netflix and YouTube videos directly from the Internet, with your phone or tablet serving as a remote control. It’s not quite as reliable when you’re using the “Google Cast” Chrome extension to mirror browser tabs. Depending on the strength of your wireless network and the power of your computer, you may have trouble casting videos from Chrome without the audio falling out of sync with the video.
If this happens to you, chances are you can solve the problem by turning down the video quality of the stream. Click the Cast button in Chrome and then click Options. Under Tab projection quality, select Standard (480p). Video won’t look as sharp on your television, but hey, at least it’ll be watchable.

2. Keep the full-screen video going

When you send a video from your phone or tablet to Chromecast, you’re free to close the app and do other things at the same time. But when you’re using the Chrome browser to watch a video on your TV, you must keep that video running in full screen at all times, or else it won’t appear in full screen on the television.
Fortunately, there’s a workaround for Windows users: Just hit Alt(+)Tab while the video is playing in full screen. You’ll find yourself outside of the video window, while it continues to occupy the whole screen on your television. To get back to the video on your computer, click the untitled Chrome window in the taskbar.

3. Stream local files from a Chrome tab

You can browse your local files with Chrome, which lets you play them on your Chromecast. (Click to enlarge.)

It turns out that Chromecast doesn’t always stream its content straight from the Internet. When casting a browser tab through Chrome on a Windows PC, Mac, or Chromebook, you can open local files in the browser, and they’ll stream to the big screen over your local network.
To do this, you can enter file:///C:/in Chrome’s address bar (or (file://localhost/Users/yourusername on a Mac), and then drag and drop the file into Chrome—or press Ctrl-O or Command-O—to show your system’s file browser. Hit the Cast button either before or after you choose the file you want, and Chrome will play the file as long as it's compatible with the file's codecs.

4. Mirror your entire PC display

Google didn’t make a big deal about this feature, but you can actually mirror your entire PC display through Chromecast, not just your open browser tabs. Click the Cast button in Chrome and look for the little drop-down arrow on the far right, on the same line as “Cast this tab to...”. Then click Cast entire screen (experimental).
This is truly an experimental feature; it doesn’t even support audio right now. Still, it could be useful for sharing photo slideshows on your local PC, or throwing PowerPoint slides onto the big screen straight from Microsoft Office.

5. Stream audio from iTunes, Windows Media Player, and other desktop programs

Using the Remote Desktop extension to access your local PC is odd, but it gets the job done if you want to stream audio from desktop programs to your big screen.

The experimental full-screen sharing described above is easy, but it doesn’t support audio streaming, . So what if you want to use Chromecast to play tunes from iTunes, VLC, the Spotify desktop app, or another local media player? You could install a media server software, such as Plex, which will allow you to play those files through a browser tab. But if you’d rather not install anything new, Google’s own Remote Desktop Web app can help.
(chromecast audio)
Oddly enough, it’s possible to open the computer you’re currently using as a tab within the Remote Desktop app. Once you’ve set up Remote Desktop (instructions here), open the app and select your current computer from the My Computers list. The browser tab itself will show an infinite cascade of windows, as the computer is essentially mirroring itself, but your local applications will open up without issue. Just make sure to turn off the audio on your computer, or else it will play on the computer and Chromecast at the same time.

6. Check out the hidden cast settngs in Chrome

Chromecast's hidden settings. (Click to enlarge.)

Hidden within the Cast extension’s Options menu, you’ll find additional streaming settings that control nuts-and-bolts things like the bit rate and frame rate of casted tabs. To uncover them, right-click anywhere in the Options menu and select Inspect element. In the frame that pops up, expand the line that reads “quality == ‘custom’.”
On the expanded line, double-click the text that reads “display: none” and delete that text. Look down seven lines further, for another “display: none”. Double-click and delete that text as well. The new options should appear on the page. (If you close the Options window, you’ll have to perform these steps again.)
There’s actually not much evidence that these settings work right now. You can play around with them, but adjusting things like frame rate and bit rate produced no noticeable changes for me.

7. Use the TeamViewer app as a makeshift remote

Using the TeamViewer mobile app to seize control of your PC acts as an ad-hoc Chromecast controller, albeit a somewhat clumsy one.

The good thing about Chromecast is that it lets you use your phone or tablet as a remote control, but right now the number of apps you can control is limited. If you have a laptop or desktop on your local network, you can use the free TeamViewer app to launch a video from Chrome on your PC and cast it to Chromecast.
TeamViewer acts as a remote control for your PC, so once the video is up and running, you can exit the app and keep doing other things on your phone or tablet. It’s not the bst method, but it works if you want to cast, say, Hulu or Spotify’s Web player to your big screen and would rather not lug your laptop into the living room. Just make sure to turn your PC’s audio off before you start casting.

Bonus! Help yourself to Chromecast’s gorgeous wallpapers

That's pretty, even if it is only 720p resolution.

When Chromecast is on but not casting anything, it treats you to some lovely wallpapers, along with some text letting you know that it’s ready to cast. It turns out those wallpapers are just sitting on a Google webpage. One member of the XDA-Developers forums grabbed them all and threw them into a ZIP file for your viewing pleasure.
Eventually Chromecast should get more apps and eliminate the need for all these workarounds. Until then, making the most out of Google’s Cast extension should help plug some of the gaps.
